Johannah

Johannah Blackman has been practicing yoga for eleven years and a certified teacher for five. Her practice began during adolescence at a time when she was looking for healing on many levels. Yoga helped her deepen into herself and bring awareness to patterns, judgments and ways of living that did not serve her. As she practiced, she was able to identify what she truly believed in and needed. She’s been committed to this path of healing every since.
Her practice deepened as she began to study with some wonderful teachers in Connecticut, New York and Sweden. She did a teacher training with Baron Baptiste and then lived and worked at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health for a year. While at Kripalu, Johannah became interested in the intersection between yoga and other mindfulness practices and psychology. Greatly inspired by the work of Stephen Cope, she moved to San Francisco and enrolled in the California Institute of Integral Studies and their one-of-a-kind program in integral counseling psychology.

Through this program, Johannah was able to deepen into a study of what it means to heal on all levels and how imbalances in any part of our beings – lead to imbalances in our entire system.
Johannah recently graduated with her Masters degree in counseling psychology and is pursuing licensure, while also creating her own style of integrating yoga and psychology. In her work as a yoga teacher and as a clinical psychologist she is interested in helping people bring awareness to old patterns, feelings and defenses that serve as blockages to actualizing potential and living the fullest life possible.

Johannah recently graduated with her Masters degree in counseling psychology and completed a 1.5-year clinical internship. She’s now pursuing licensure while also creating her own style of integrating yoga and psychology. In her work as a yoga teacher and as a counselor she is interested in helping people bring awareness to old patterns, feelings and defenses that serve as blockages to actualizing potential and living the fullest life possible.
It’s her experience, through working with both clients and with yoga students, that this process guides itself. We all have within us a drive towards healing and wholeness that is accessible, if we move through all the “junk” that gets between our awareness and that innate wisdom. She feels blessed to share her own journey towards such healing and to offer support for others on their journey.
