MARA

Mara was born in Austria and moved to the US in August 2009. She was trained as a dancer, actress and singer at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria.
Mara was introduced to yoga while performing in the musical theater production of Jekyll & Hyde in Bremen, Germany. She was injured while dancing in the show and could barely move one of her legs.
Trying to find a way to keep her strength, while resting the leg and back, she found that the only workout she was able to do without pain was yoga. The gentle but extremely effective exercises helped her get back on stage in a very short time. She was also able to improve her muscular flexibility and strength even further – since then she has remained pain free.
Over the years, Mara has studied and practiced different styles of fitness approaches with many gifted teachers. Her passion and enthusiasm for the beauty of movement and its instrument; the human body, inspired her to get her certifications in aerobics, step aerobics, body-conditioning, back health, pilates, yoga, mental centering and nutrition.
“Movement has always been my favorite expression of my thoughts and emotions. It came easy to me, felt good and I was confident about it.“
After completing a one-year trainee-ship, she started teaching others to become group fitness instructors themselves. “I‘ve had the great pleasure of meeting many wonderful, inspired and motivated people who – with their eagerness to learn – have in turn, taught me a number of valuable things.“
“Yoga is my spiritual practice. The studio is my church. It’s something I deeply believe in. Yoga was developed to help us get through this life in the least hurtful and most joyful way. The body is the vessel through which we can experience everything that the universe has in store for us. It brings us closer to our true nature. It makes us strong, physically, emotionally and mentally.”
