“I’m so thankful that I was encouraged by my physician to start taking yoga classes with Karen Kenney several months ago. The first evening that I walked into her space, I knew that I was in the right place. Karen’s gentle and kind way of teaching has changed my life in a HUGE way. She has taught me to be as kind and loving with myself as I am with everyone else in my life. Thank You Karen for your time, energy, love and devotion. You truly offer a special gift to all of us.” ~ Connie Hamel
When I practice on a regular basis – the benefits and rewards are huge!!! Along with a noticeably stronger core and more flexibility – yoga keeps me injury free and mentally ready to bring my “A” game to each workout and race. It’s also taught me just how important it is to slow down, take a look around and recognize just what is important in life. That life truly is about Balance, Humility and Smiles. Yoga is absolutely priceless! Each class, Karen mixes things up – bringing different postures, along with hitting the spiritual and mental end from unique angles. She is totally dialed in to each student and their individual needs. She doesn’t sugar-coat anything – she says how it is. Karen genuinely cares about each person that sets foot in her studio. Her classes have been total game changers in my life and I can’t thank her enough! ~ Sean Snow (Ironman Triathlete)
“How does one put into words the positive, fun and the always changing impact Quest Yoga has offered to me? Little did I know how Quest Yoga would help transform not only my physical being but also my spiritual being in such a profound way. After attending other yoga studio practices, I always came away asking myself what am I missing? Is this what yoga is about? My first class with Karen Kenney changed any preconceived notions I may have had associated with yoga. Karen’s patient guidance with the physical postures allows each participant to better his or her capabilities with each class without question or judgment. As important in participating in Karen’s classes is the sharing, incorporating and truly experiencing the spiritual side of yoga. Being able to let go of the day’s busyness resulting in a more peaceful, relaxed and “all is good” state of mind has spread to other parts of my life. Karen’s teachings have taught me to both approach and live life in a more compassionate, kind, loving, happy and non-judgmental way. Thanks Karen for being you!” ~ Linda Diskin
“As an employer, the health and well being of my employees is a very important aspect of their employment success (as well as their private success). In our office we foster healthy living through sharing nutritional ideas, walking partners, etc. My team requested a team building activity. With all the options available, we decided to first try yoga and as Karen’s studio is here in our building it made it very convenient. Since we started almost 12 weeks ago, the team collectively has lost 53 pounds, been more productive even though they have lost 10 hours of work, been able to handle the stresses of their jobs and private lives more effectively and there is a greater sense of calm, understanding and respect on the office floor. Unscheduled absences are at an all time low, cross training initiatives are at an all time high, and the over all feeling of the office is much more collaborative. I cannot express adequately the positive results of the experience of yoga through our practice with Karen and what it has meant to my staff, myself and my role as their employer.” ~ Nicole VerPault
Tonight’s class was amazing Karen! I missed it so much. I think this could be a new beginning for me!” ~ Whitney Kreiger
“Karen’s teaching is like no other, yoga becomes a three part class in one; mind, body and soul. The confidence and passion from Karen’s teaching allows you to bring this attitude into your own practice. Once you have experienced Quest Yoga you learn what Yoga is all about. You know you have found something wonderful when you want to share it with all your friends and can’t keep it a secret because it’s just that good!” ~ Nichole Beaudoin
“It is such a gift to all of us that Karen chose to teach yoga. When I come to her classes and workshops, I always leave feeling better. And as time goes by, the benefits are lasting longer and longer. It is not just the physical exercise that benefits us, but the connection she makes to what is really important: something bigger than us that connects us all. Thank you Karen for taking the time at the beginning of class to help us set an intention, thank you for reminding me during class to breathe, and thank you for reminding us all that there is the light, the goodness, and the divine in each and everyone of us. Down to earth transcendence!” ~ Gino Tiella
“Words cannot express my appreciation and gratitude for the difference Karen Kenney and Quest Yoga have made in my life! Prior to my first yoga class, I was in need of some major spiritual and emotional intervention. I was in the process of searching for that certain something, when I happened upon one of Karen’s yoga classes. Physically, I found a practice that both challenged and excited me (and a year later, continues to do so!). But even more unexpectedly, Karen introduced me to a practice that has allowed me to heal, calm, and grow. Her gift with words – both her love for the written word as well as her ability to interpret and articulate readings to apply to our every day lives- has made a profound influence on my life. Each class, I’m eager to hear Karen’s daily message… learning how to become a happier, healthier, kinder, and more compassionate person. I was obviously thrilled when I held that first handstand, but I’m even more blown away at how yoga has helped me strengthen my inner self and given me an inner peace- a healing far beyond what I thought possible! I’m so blessed to have Karen as my yoga teacher and to be part of the warm and welcoming community at Quest Yoga. Karen is changing the world one yoga student at a time and I’m so very grateful to be one of them!” ~ Deirdre Martin
“I’ve been taking yoga classes with Karen since the fall, and it’s been a wonderful experience. She has a beautiful studio that gives you a sense of peace when you walk in the door. In addition to taking yoga classes, I’ve also taken two workshops with Karen, one on Passage Meditation and another on the Yamas and Niyamas. In her yoga classes and workshops, Karen has a wonderful style of teaching. She’s full of energy, she’s very genuine and compassionate, she has a great sense of humor and she knows her stuff. The spiritual wisdom she continually shares helps me further incorporate yoga into my life, both on and off the mat. We’re very lucky to have Karen here in Concord. I strongly recommend that you try her yoga classes and any of her workshops.” ~ Cathy Sturtevant
“Karen is an authentic teacher who meets the world with an open heart and sets a good example. People respond to her teaching because in her class everyone feels the love. She balances devotion without becoming too serious. Everyone is safe, comfortable, loved. People love to the best of their ability and having Karen as a teacher has increased my ability to be loving towards others.” ~ Bob Holleman
“Karen, Thank you for clearly and passionately following what is obviously (to me, for sure!) God’s will for your life! You have already made a difference in my yoga practice and that difference is positively impacting my life. Bless you!” ~ Gina Maguire
“Karen, I am so grateful to you for all your help. I worked really hard this past summer to strengthen my body to improve my cycling times. Well I did just that, to the point where my lower back was killing me cause everything was so tight. Yoga was suggested by my chiropractor to get me stretching because I was pulling my lower back out constantly. I have attended 5 classes so far and my back pain was gone after the first class. I can’t believe how amazing I feel and how much Yoga has helped. I know that I push myself hard and I stress my body a lot. You have certainly taught me to listen to my body and treat it with kindness and love. I only have this one body and I’m gonna need it for a lot of years to come. Karen, thank you for helping me to show up, be present and truly love and respect the body I have been given. You are amazing and I am lucky to have met you! Thanks for being part of my journey.” ~ Linda Kreiger
“I am 72 years old. I have been practicing yoga at Quest for about 7 years. The physical and mental changes have been amazing, if I do say so myself! I feel younger, stronger, more open than I did at 40. I am much calmer and more accepting than I was then. Quest Yoga and its excellent teachers have changed my life.” ~ Patty H.
“I wanted to THANK YOU so much for the wonderful Thai Yoga session! You are an absolute natural!! Your compassion was very evident as you performed the movements. There was a beautiful flow and rhythm to the work. I have taken a course in Thai Yoga when I was a student at massage school a few years ago (I have a license in massage in addition to Physical Therapy) and I can tell you that I think your work was impeccable. I am recommending to the others to try it. Thank you again!!! I hope you continue to enjoy giving Thai Yoga to others as much as it felt like you did the other day!” ~ Lynne Ainsworth
“In a kind and benevolent universe, I stumbled across a sign that said: Quest Yoga. It only took me a year to convince myself that I deserved to take some time for myself by attending yoga classes. I drove to the studio and walked in feeling wildly self-conscious. Little did I know that I would find a refuge. Sometimes when Karen teaches, I think that her intuition tells her exactly what everyone needs – not only physically, but what they need to hear to nourish their souls. I know there are classes where I want to deny my body’s messages and ignore certain aspects of my life. Then, Karen says just the thing that puts it front and center and I know that if I approach the work on the mat in an authentic way, the body work will help to move me where I need to go. I am mostly grateful that Karen approaches yoga as a way of life. In my attempts to be “in the world, but not of the world”, Quest Yoga provides not just a place to increase my physical flexibility, but also a place where my heart can open and my harried soul can rest and find comfort. Karen’s classes have pushed me and comforted me and everything in between. I am profoundly grateful to Karen for imparting compassion, care, humor, wisdom and insight.” ~ Gigi Klipa
“I just wanted to say thank you again for your wonderful instruction and guidance in the past months. It has truly made a difference in my life. It has helped me in parenting, and in other areas of my life to stay in the moment and be more present. Forward folds while cooking dinner have become a habit now too. Your classes were great with your insight (it was as if you read my mind sometimes!) and humor, and I will always be grateful to have learned from you. This is honestly something I will do for the rest of my life.” ~ Emily Geneway
“I feel as though yoga breaths new life into this tired old body of mine.” ~ Buffalo Dave Bichierri
“What has been reaffirming is that every time I go to my mat, I feel better when I get off. Even if I am dead tired, I never regret taking the time, even a small amount of time, to do some yoga. In the end, I feel stronger, calmer, more rested.” ~ Mary Stewart
“Have I told you how much I love your studio and class? Thank you for being just what I need to do Yoga.” ~ Bill S.
“I’ve learned that I truly love yoga and that I can improve a little at a time the more I practice. Even if I sit on my mat for 10-15 minutes I feel different. I was on a hike up north a few weekends ago and I found myself searching for spots to do postures while looking out over the mountains. Every time I saw a serene spot my first thought would be… I want to go over there and do Tree or Warrior or just sit with my eyes closed. Also, I feel much better the more I practice, my body is less tense and wants to let go of the days’ worries. I’ve learned that I actually can practice whenever I want, however I want and it’s all my own. I know I prefer to practice with other yogis but I know enough now (from the excellent teacher that I have J ) on my own to put together a nice routine of postures. I didn’t realize at first what I’ve learned in the last 3 years or so. I have more faith in myself to include yoga in my everyday life. Another positive…I lost an inch or so around the hips/butt and practicing more has kept me on the right track with my nutrition. I pay more attention to what I eat because depending on what I eat, it will have a direct impact when I go to practice later that evening. So, thanks again for motivating all of us and helping us to move along to a deeper more meaningful practice.” ~ Stacey Hyland
“Yoga is about living and using your tools to make your life and those lives that you touch richer and deeper. I am having such an interesting time digging into thoughts, emotions and feelings that the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga are bringing to light. I think they are making my relationships with others more meaningful too! The most surprising part of this is that I didn’t realize how much I had integrated yoga into my daily life until I really started to pay attention – Using techniques throughout my day that have started to become natural (I don’t even think about them anymore) – Like deep breathing before seeing a difficult patient and entering the room in the present moment and with compassion in my heart – It’s so cool!!!” ~ Laura Rondos
“Karen, I just wanted to write a note of appreciation and thankfulness for all the yoga classes you have led me in. You have truly taken my abilities to the next level and inspired me to continue yoga as an everlasting part of my life. I very much appreciate everything you have done for me. You are a true success and I wish you the greatest of luck in the continuance of that success! ~ SP
“I’ve known Karen Kenney for almost 2 years. She has been for this time, my primary yoga teacher. I brought my rickety, middle-aged body to her yoga studio for some health and well being. Karen has been able to instill in me a sense of worthiness. In that, I can have a healthy body with balance, as I begin the transformation from adult to middle-adulthood. Karen’s style of teaching expresses her commitment to the emancipation of body, mind, heart and soul. Karen promotes non-violence and non-harm (in it’s myriad of forms) towards all sentient beings. Practice of yoga postures for physical well being but also as a vehicle to connect compassion with the rest of my world, family, friends, co-workers, co-students and in turn, our larger society. In kind, Karen creates a learning environment that embodies a microcosm of what humanity is intended to be, but rarely makes the grade. Karen realizes that we all get off the elevator at different levels. As such, we all have different levels of ability. I think the mark of an excellent communicator, teacher or presenter is their ability to captivate and motivate. Karen can ask me as a student to “dig deep” inside myself during my yoga practice and awaken hidden stores of energy, which in turn ignites my will towards motivation and I hope excellence. I am definitely a better person under her instruction. If yoga was in the Olympics, Karen would take home the gold!” ~ Bill T.
“Karen Kenney is the epitome of a teacher of any discipline. She has all of the desirable traits that a student would want to see in a teacher- a full and deep understanding of the discipline at hand, a gentle and kind manner of presentation and a sense of humor that makes students feel relaxed and non-threatened while learning. Yoga is a way of life for Karen and that love demonstrates itself daily in and out of the studio. Karen’s commitment to Yoga and to her students is unwavering and her refreshing honesty is a breath of fresh air.” ~ Don Desmaris
“My first intro to Karen was through her “Yoga Show” on local Concord Television. My chiropractor also told me to check her out and I found a riotous, funny, slender, ball of energy who was obviously dedicated to her practice. She looked like a happy person, with a cosmic secret, radiating beauty and joy from within and without. I so wanted a piece of that. I had completely shattered my tibia/fibula in a ski accident in 2003, and my left leg was 1/2 inch shorter than the right. I was nearly crippled in walking & I had gained around 40 pounds. My massage therapist also suggested that I check out classes with Karen, saying that “yoga was a way to give myself massage in between our sessions.” When I began with Karen in June 2005, I had not done yoga for 30 years. Under Karen’s gentle, but persistent & challenging tutelage, I have lost much weight and re-gained much of the muscular flexibility I once had as a dancer. I am still working on the core strength needed for certain postures but Karen has given me the confidence to practice yoga anywhere, at any level. Mainly because I now know that it’s all about play, bumping up against your edge, and allowing yourself compassionate love along the way. I always carry much wisdom and light off the mat into the world outside when I leave Karen’s Quest Yoga.” ~ JW
“Three years ago I was in need of something. I was praying to myself, crying, asking for something to calm me and make me feel more secure. I wanted to belong to something other than the “mommy hood”. All of a sudden, I drove by this sign – “Quest Yoga”. It was like a light shone through the clouds and pointed me in that direction. I went home, called the number and heard the sweetest, most welcoming voice a soul could hear. I went to the Open House celebration and met a few people there including the owner, Karen Kenney. I was hooked. I feel so well known there and I never felt any pressure or doubt. I always feel like I can do it, never “not” do it. Her instruction is the key, she’s very mindful and knows us as individuals. Her energy is like Wonder Woman. She touches you and you feel “ENERGY”! I know I’ve said this before to her, but it’s all true. I’ve never felt that from a person before. Anyway, what more can I say, we are blessed to have Karen as a Yoga teacher.” ~ Chris Blanchette
“Karen has helped me emerge into something new, through deepening and strengthening my postures with her compassionate and gentle power of persuasion.” ~ Dan Garrity
“Yoga under Karen Kenney’s tutelage not only increases strength and flexibility in the physical body but also allows space for expansion of the heart, mind and soul. Her encouragement to see the connection between my yoga practice on the mat with how I choose to live my life has profoundly changed how I view myself and the world around me. I feel blessed to have found such an extraordinary teacher.” ~ DC
“Karen has the ability to integrate all levels of students in her class. She makes you feel like you can do anything.” ~ Michelle Josephson
“Through yoga, I have strengthened my inner self as well as my physical self. Karen Kenney’s classes always start out and end with quiet restful meditations. I enjoy these rare occurrences of silence in my ever hectic life above all else.” ~ Patty Garrity
“Working with Karen has brought my understanding and my practice of yoga to a whole new level.” ~ SH
“I’ll miss your classes…I loved your teaching and patience during our time together. My body, mind and spirit was coming for a difficult time and space; I quit smoking and drinking, I was being carried on the wind and forces acted on me which I had little control over. You helped me find peace. I will never forget the time I had and look forward to returning. Thank you again. Driftwood never had it so good as to wash upon the sandy shores of your forgiving beach… You are a true spirit on this crazy dumb ball we call earth. I wish there were more people like you.” ~ Matthew S.
“I got hooked on yoga that very first night at the college where I attended (begrudgingly…I didn’t want to be a Zen like!) as a guest. As we “settled” into savasana or the relaxation phase I was blown away by Karen’s words to a class of mostly college kids….”You are beautiful and loving and worthy just as you are…” I couldn’t help but think how seldom people of any age hear that, and thought that it was particularly wonderful for those young students to hear. To this day, I eagerly look forward to Karen’s yoga sessions, mainly because I savor her words as she teaches class. Karen is so articulate, intelligent, insightful and thought provoking. Her soothing voice in her lovely studio pampers the senses. I actually LOVE the monologue and carry most of these “nuggets” into my daily life. My goal is to become truly fit, and from yoga I realize that I am farther from that state than I thought I was. To be fit, you need strength, endurance, coordination, balance and flexibility. So to have the fitness I desire, I’ve got my work cut out for me, as my flexibility is a serious issue. Yoga is helping, albeit slowly and I cherish the crucial stretching in postures. Karen has an amazing understanding of the human body and comments often and perfectly as to how to adjust. Uncanny, actually, how dead on she is about that! It’s nice, too, that in every class everyone is acknowledged by name with a comment on an improvement or correct posture, or with a soft touch that sometimes says more than words… And the people in her midst! Through Karen, I have encountered the best around. Be it her students, a doctor, a massage therapist, reading materials, events and the like, well, it just shows that excellence begets excellence and by surrounding yourself with quality, the results can be wonderful. Yes, yoga has changed my life. Because of Karen’s influence, I am getting a clue about centering and mindfulness. Since day one, I have always touted yoga in hopes that others will also encounter a good yoga teacher. But I always say, there’s yoga and then there’s “Karen’s yoga”. Being in the moment is starting to make sense as are some of Karen’s phrases, which I take outside to others. As my 87 year old mother and I take our daily walks, I remind her to stand straight and tall, open the chest and breath deeply; make room for joy and compassion. Thank you, Karen, for adding the above to my life. You are a treasure and I know I speak for all when I say we’re lucky to have you and your essence enrich our lives.” ~ Lynda Lubelczyk
“Turning 50 is a milestone – Turning 50 with high blood pressure, an ulcer and depression is a nightmare. I made a decision to change myself both physically and mentally but I didn’t know where to begin. Not being an exercise lover I went to the store and bought a yoga mat and some yoga tapes and decided to give that a try. I started on my yoga journey at home by myself with a wish (to feel better and more relaxed) and a commitment to change – What a surprise! – I fell in love with yoga and decided to maybe try to take a class and risk public embarrassment. Yoga has in a year and a half changed my life – To practice loving kindness toward myself was (and still is) a very hard concept for me. I am now 30 pounds lighter, much more relaxed and physically feeling 100% better, but another bonus is that I am now starting to explore the spiritual side of yoga and opening up a door in my life that was closed. I have found out things about myself at 50 that I didn’t know (or care to know) before. I have been so lucky to find a yoga teacher who has given me the gift of exploring this new road on my life journey. Yoga has become a daily part of my life and will continue to enrich me and those around me – Thank you Yoga, Karen and fellow yogis for a new lease on life.” ~ Laura R.
“I just had my best Christmas, ever. At first I thought it was because the kids were older. Then I thought it was because of the other very interesting company at our house over the holidays. But I finally came to realize that it was because of yoga. My practice has helped me to let go of some deeply held tension from my neck, shoulders hips, and legs. As a result, I feel lighter, happier and more energetic that I have in years, if ever. This new lightness made more energy available for enjoyment. It was wonderful. Thanks, Karen!” ~ PH
“I’m hooked! I look forward to every class, and if I go a day without practice, I miss it. I began coming to yoga class only 2 months ago, but I know that this is a practice I will continue for the rest of my life. Yoga has taught me to be more aware of my body. It combines so many elements that interest me: flexibility, strength, balance, spirituality, and focus. Karen is a kind and effective teacher and I highly recommend her classes.” ~ Dominique Dodge
